As a Nomad we reside in the world of the unknown; in new places, new cultures, new situations. And in the absence of routine and often the absence of knowledge, we are required to act without the perceived assurances of our old non-nomad paradigms.
I once heard that a skilled rock climber or stream-crosser does not need to think about where to place one's hand or foot; the placement becomes second nature. Intuitive. Almost as if the rock appears where needed, or the path is known even when traveled for the first time.
And so it is as one becomes Nomad.
Being Nomad, or Becoming Nomad, requires by its nature, the surrender to the unknown, and a trust in the journey. I have found that this surrender has awoken within me a heightened inner knowing: an
inner guidance that gives me answers before I even form the question.
Yet the modern world has taught us to not trust that inner voice, and to instead replace that guidance with the advice from "experts" or "influencers" or those who proclaim to know what is best for us.
Is there a way back to the path of intuition? Can we remember and re-learn the innate wisdom that resides within each of us?
In my life as a Nomad, I have felt my increasing willingness to take more risks and choose the path of the unknown, the path of mystery. Yet inside my being it does not feel like I am taking greater risks. Instead life feels guided; inspired, and I feel winked at by a knowing universe.
With each new journey, like a skilled rock climber or a skilled river crosser, I too am starting to realize that the next foot or hand hold in life, is exactly where I need it to be, exactly when I need it.
